Go Shine!

Updated: Jan 28, 2021

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine.
You make me happy when skies are gray.
You’ll never know dear, how much I love you.
Please, don’t take my sunshine away."
- Jimmie Davis and Charles Mitchell 1939

“The righteous shine like the sun” - Mt. 13:43

Some people struggle with using the word righteous; they think it means something more than it actually does but,

“Being righteous doesn’t mean being perfect or never making mistakes. It means developing an inner connection with God, repenting of our sins and mistakes, and freely helping others.” - Sharon Eubank

So, with this being our definition of being righteous - let the sun shine through you today. There are a lot of people in our world that can use some positive, sunny, uplifting words and attitudes today. A sunny disposition doesn't just make you feel better, it makes those around you feel better too. Your inner connection with God shines out from you like a ray of shining light that affects everyone.

I once took a tour into an underground cavern. The guide asked for everyone to take the hand of the person next to them and yelled, "Light out!" Most of the group gasped, others screamed; the darkness was so thick that I could feel it pressing in on me. The guide told us to hold up our right hand in front of our face. You guessed it, I couldn't see my hand. The entire group cheered, breathed a sigh of relief and was left shaking our heads in amazement when he lit a candle. I was shocked at the difference the small candle made in the darkness.

Even if you feel your light doesn't shine very brightly - in a world filled with darkness, fear, uncertainty and concern - the smallest light makes a difference. Yes, your smile, your light, your connection to God makes a difference for someone. You can overcome whatever is going on around you if you believe in the light that shines from within you.

You are someone’s sunshine today!

Go shine! :)
