Rule #5 STAY CALM - From 7 Rules Of Life

Updated: Jan 7, 2021

STAY CALM - It’s OK not to have everything figured out. Know that in time, you’ll get there.

Some people are meticulous planners. They do everything within their power to prevent every problem and avoid every pitfall. We like the comfort of knowing that everything is well planned and that every detail is going perfectly and according to the plan; but it's not always possible to foresee every problem and sometimes the very pitfall you tried to avoid is unavoidable.

As frustrating and disheartening as it is to be faced with the very issues you were trying to avoid - don't let unexpected events to cause you to veer off course, or push you into a place of negativity and despair. The fact is that the unexpected is always going to be a part of life. It's not about avoiding every problem, it's about how we deal with them.

“Life is ten percent what you experience and ninety percent how you respond to it.” – Dorothy M. Neddermeyer

No one has perfect vision into the future; having everything figured out would be great - but if we could predict every detail of life, we would not appreciate the value of faith or ever grasp the necessity of hope. You see, faith and hope transcend human ability and understanding. Faith and hope are based on what we cannot see or predict. If our life went perfectly, as planned and predicted, we wouldn't need faith and we would have no use for hope.

So, for the believers, the dreamers and hearts filled with hope, remember - you can't control what happens, but you can control how you respond to it.

"My entire life can be described in one sentence: it didn't go as planned, and that's OK." - Rachel Wolchin
